CLOSER

A game about finding your emotions after a depression.

My role: Everything (including Sound Design, Music, Programming and Game Design)

This game, made by myself, was a project in the course “Game Audio” at Sonic College.

Audio was implemented into Unity 3D using FMOD.

It was an individual project where we had to make a game in Unity and create the audio for it.

As the screen fades in you see a giant transparent wall in front of you. On the other side, you see a person, and walk toward them. The screen fades out, and when it fades in again you are in a rainy, grey forest.

Closer is based around two different but mirrored worlds. One dark and feelingless, the other colorful, harmonic, and full of feelings to reactivate.

The main mechanic is being able to switch between these worlds. It is achieved by copying the main characters movement and orientation in one world to a clone in another.

The game is divided into three sections with different puzzles to solve. Between each of these sections, you return to a “mirror room”. Here you see a person at the other end of the room and start walking toward them. Each time you will get closer than the last, until you have completed all the puzzles and can go all the way and end the game.
